We had talked to Dennis Brath from Cadens Kennels years back about a possible male to use for a stud service. We liked what Cadens Kennel and Dennis were producing and we had always had success with a Cadens dog. He had recommended his FC AFC NGSPA CH Cadens Bandit dog for what we are looking for in a dog. The traits we were looking for, which Dennis said Bandit had, were a big nose, bird finder, retrieve, stamina, style and disposition. Unfortunately, the breeding never happened and Dennis passed away in 2018. Bandit was out of FC AFC Cadens Ruger Weltmeister and a grandson to Windrows Saddle Tramp MH, who is in a lot of pedigrees and a very good producer.
After missing the opportunity to breed to Bandit and searching again a few years later, we came across Beaver Valley’s Prairie Hawk MH, a son of Bandit and owned by Bill Schulz. We had heard good things about Hawk (who later earned his MH). Bill shares that "Hawk is a proven wild bird dog on multiple species throughout the Midwest. Sound confirmation, tremendous style & drive, natural back & retrieve. Excellent nose along with the brains and savvy necessary to know how to use and apply it! All of this wrapped into a dog with a sound temperament!"
In late 2019, we bred our top female at the time (Willow Creek's Sugar Candy 'Mandy') and kept two pups, Bob and Rose. We see traits coming through strong from both parents. Both Bob and Rose point every bird they come across. They are very good bird finders. They work hard and there’s no quit in them. Both are very good retrievers with a lot of retrieving desire. Their dispositions are very nice and well-rounded. Bob and Rose are super intelligent, very easy to train and easy to handle. These two are also very good backers.
Rose is athletic, ~50 lbs and 22” at the withers. She's a great wild bird dog with a ton of natural ability. She’s fast, she’s fluid and she’s a really good dog. Just like her littermate, Bob, Rose is really easy to handle with a big nose, pointing way off her birds with a ton of style and intensity. Rose been super easy to train, with so much ability, she doesn't require much for training. Both Bob and Rose love to swim and are strong in the water. Rose is quiet and very respectful of your space, she's calm and cuddly, a very sweet dog. Rose and her offspring would be excellend family hunting companions. She's a lot like her mom, Mandy, with the coveted "off switch" that doesn't take much to wire. We are hopeful and excited to see what she does as she develops further.
